I decided to buy a less expensive coffeemaker and am very happy with this model. Previously, I had two Krups coffeemakers.
Now, after a month of use I'm very happy with the purchase. After spending a couple of days comparison shopping and reading reviews I settled on the B&D DCM2500 SmartBrew Plus.
I love the large, super-bright display on the clock. I brew two pots a day and this unit always make a good, hot cup of coffee.
The carafe pours nicely -- no dribbles, and is well-balanced. The first lasted 15 years, but the second one stopped working completely after a year and a half.
The only thing I miss is a water filter, but even without one this unit makes great coffee.
Strongest point is the wide, plastic pour spout that does NOT spill, drip, or splatter. we've tried many coffee pots over the years, in fact we've had several of this model because we tend to wear them out. This is a very good, basic performer. We don't need the autostart feature however every coffee pot should have the 2 hr turnoff feature that this b&d has. i can tell you that once we wear this one out, our next coffee pot will be another B&D smartbrew.
Seal between the carafe and plastic spout were not adequately glued together. Disappointing and now have to deal with getting a replacement after 1 week of use. Coffee brewed fine but overall the unit is somewhat flimsy.I'd expect 1-2 years max before one of the plastic hinges would fail.
This is the best coffee maker that I have ever owned. One modification I did make is to remove the little lever under the grounds basket, as I never use the sneak a cup feature. It's easy to program, the pot does not drip, and makes great coffee. The low price is an added bonus. It could be a potential source of overflow problems. I highly recommend this coffee maker.
I am always pouring a cup of luke warm coffee. Have been using this coffee pot for 2 months at work. Coffee isn't hot enough and absolutely hate the automatic shut off after 2 hours. In addition, when the top is opened after brewing, water from condensation runs down the back of the pot onto the counter. Would not buy again.
